Understanding the Different Types of Skin

Dealing With a Breakout

Knowing the type of skin you have and understanding its nature are two completely different things. Most of the times, your skin type has some other form of combination, and so, it is possible that what you might think of your skin type is actually a false conception.
Moreover, once you know the type of skin that you have, it becomes easier for you to determine the right skin care products that are designed specifically for your skin. It is the best way to add on to your natural beauty.

However, below are some of the basic skin types and their nature:

1. Oily Skin:

If you have a thick complexion then you probably have oily skin. Having oily skin means that there would be enlarged pores on your skin. The oil on your skin affects the softness of the skin as well as the nutritional balance. Your skin might seem either dull or shiny. Moreover, it is vital for you to wash your face at least twice a day, and use oil-free moisturizers. Exfoliate on a weekly basis to remove the oil in your pores.

2. Sensitive Skin:

Sensitive skin can be the result of a certain allergy, or due to the products that you use, or even the fabric you’re either wearing or sleeping on. However, if you cannot find the reason for the sensitivity, then make sure that you keep your skin hydrated at all times. Protect your skin against the sunrays by applying sunscreen of SPF 40 or more, to avoid any redness, or burning. Furthermore, it is important for you to test every product before applying or buying them.

3. Dry Skin:

Dry skin has lesser elasticity than the other skin types. The skin tends to form flakes, along with invisible pores. Dryness causes the skin to become itchy or inflamed. You should apply a generous amount of moisturizer at least twice daily and try to use natural products only. Do not use harsh cleaning agents or deodorant soaps. Make sure that you do not scrub roughly while taking a bath or shower, or even when you are drying your skin with a towel.

4. Combination Skin:

Most people are not even aware of the existence of the combination skin type, until they are diagnosed with it. The most prominent factor of the combination skin is that it would be normal in some areas, and completely dry or oily in other areas. The nose, the forehead and the chin are the areas that are mostly oily, which is why the skin would seem shiny. The combination skin type is due to the hormonal or genetic factors that causes imbalance in the skin. Therefore, the combination skin can be treated with numerous products due to the mixed skin types.

When you know the nature of your skin type, it gets easier for you to choose the right skin care products, treatments, or even makeup.
