The Seven Main Steps During Facial Acne Treatment

Advantages of Undergoing Facial Treatments

Acne mostly affects young people in Singapore. A survey performed among Singapore’s teenagers revealed that more than eight in ten teenagers had the condition. Whereas the majority, about 50 percent, had mild acne, 40 percent had moderate acne, and one in ten had severe acne.

Most of the respondents in the survey had undergone some form of antibiotic treatment and some had shown signs of resistance to the antibiotics. If you have acne, you don’t have to contend with antibiotics. Professional facial treatment in Singapore is an effective remedy for acne. Also, do look out for regular facial promotion in Singapore.

Here’s what happens during an acne facial treatment.

1. Deep Cleansing

The esthetician will start by performing a deep cleansing of your face, neck, and shoulders. This is usually done using warm water and a mild cleanser, and the objective is to wash off any makeup or sweat, dirt or oil from your face. If you have layers of makeup on your face, it just means that you’ll have to go through a series of washes.

2. Steam Treatment

This is a personal favorite for many people. The esthetician will use a facial steamer to blow warm steam over the face and prep you for extraction. Whereas many people presume that the steamer opens up the pores, this is not accurate. Skin pores are not opened by steam. The steam bath softens the trapped material and dead skin in the pores readying them for the eventual removal.

3. Exfoliation

Exfoliation is the process of removal of dead skin, oils and dirt that clog the pores. It is a vital process in the treatment of acne and often leaves the skin super soft and sensitive.

There are different types of exfoliation to different kinds of skin.  The condition of the acne will also determine which type of exfoliation to apply.

4. Blemish Extraction

Extractions entail the manual cleaning out of blackheads using fingers or special tools attached to the fingers. It’s everyone’s least favorite part and may involve some discomfort. However, it is not painful.

5. Application of Mask

After exfoliation and extraction, your skin will have gone through some level of distress and the esthetician will prepare a suitable mask to help the facial skin to calm down.

People with acne often have super-oily skins. Therefore, oil-absorbing masks such as clay masks combined with soothing materials are often used to get the facial skill back in shape.

As the mask sets, the esthetician will often treat you to a round of relaxing shoulder and neck massage.

6. Application of Toner

Once the mask is off, the esthetician will apply an astringent all over the surface of the skin to even out the skin tone. You may ask why not a toner? Acne facial treatment entails the removal of oils from the skin surface. Skin toners do not absorb oils but astringents do. Therefore, the therapist will pick a suitable astringent for your skin type.

7. Moisturizing and Protection

Finally, the therapist will apply a non-oily moisturizer all over the treated surfaces including the skin around the shoulder and neck. A layer of sunscreen is also added to protect your skin from the adverse effects of the sun, especially after exfoliation.
